It depends on the ages of your kids and whether or not there's another parent in the house. As my son gets older I get to go out more because now he has his own friends. When he was very small I hardly went out at all. I think you need to think of going out as a treat and take advantage of it when you can. Some people go around thinking it's their god given right to go out regardless of the situation.
Bottom line is; yes, it's important but it needs to be given the correct priority.
